Practicing Design in the Jungle
Updated: Jul 28
As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Belize, I found myself running into unintended free time pretty often. It usually happened during school breaks, on the weekends or between projects. Often times, my overly productive brain would crave new projects, new ideas, new skills. Whenever I had a moment in a building with internet speeds strong enough to download PDFs, I would scour the internet for freebies to teach myself adobe suite skills.
With the strength of the solar panels, I would charge my computer to study and practice at night before bed. Soon enough, I was invited to help with logos, t-shirts, and print designs for a variety of projects for volunteers and Belize headquarters.
